1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Nepal Bill Scanner: Tax Prize ("we", "us", "our", or "the App", Android package com.nepal.billscanner.prize) collects, uses, protects, and discloses information when you use our mobile application and related web services. We are dedicated to respecting and protecting user privacy while helping consumers organize VAT/PAN bills and participate in Nepal's taxpayer incentive reward schemes.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect information necessary to deliver and improve our receipt scanning and submission facilitation features:
- Personal Information (Optional): Your Full Name, Mobile Phone Number, and Address. This information is requested solely to pre-fill the official Inland Revenue Department (IRD) submission forms so you do not have to retype them for every bill.
- Receipt & Invoice Data: Bill number, Seller PAN (Permanent Account Number), invoice date (BS/AD), total bill amount, VAT amount, and vendor name extracted from purchase receipts.
- Camera and Image Files: Images of purchase receipts captured or chosen via the Android System Photo Picker solely for optical text extraction (OCR).
- Device and Usage Identifiers: Anonymous advertising ID, device model, operating system version, and general network diagnostics used by Google AdMob and Firebase services.
3. Guest Mode vs. Registered Account Storage
- Guest Mode: In Guest Mode, all personal details, bills, and images are stored 100% locally on your device using secure local storage. No personal profile data or bill images are transmitted or stored on our external servers.
- Registered User Mode (Firebase Cloud Storage & Firestore): When you sign in with your Google account, your profile and bill records are securely synchronized with Google Firebase Firestore and Firebase Cloud Storage under strict security rules so you can access your bill records across devices.
4. Third-Party Services and SDKs
The App integrates trusted third-party services that comply with Google Play Developer policies and global data security standards:
- Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK): We display non-intrusive advertisements and rewarded video ads to support app development. Google AdMob may collect and process device identifiers, advertising IDs, and cookies to serve ads in accordance with Google Advertising Privacy Policies.
- Google Firebase: Used for secure user authentication, Firestore database, and Cloud Storage under Google Firebase Privacy Standards.
- Google Gemini AI (OCR Vision): Receipt photos are processed using Google Gemini AI models strictly for extracting invoice texts (PAN, bill number, amounts). Images sent for OCR are processed ephemerally and are not used for public profiling or AI model training.
5. Device Permissions
We request only minimal permissions required for core functions:
- CAMERA: Used to photograph purchase invoices for OCR parsing.
- Android System Photo Picker (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 12 and below): Used to allow you to select a saved receipt photo from your device gallery without requiring broad media library access.
- INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required to query receipt text, synchronize cloud records, display ads, and open the official IRD submission portal.
6. Data Retention and Auto-Clear Policy
Because Nepal's IRD taxpayer incentive draws occur in bi-monthly cycles (1st and 16th of each Nepali Bikram Sambat month), older bills lose eligibility over time. The App provides user-configurable data retention:
- Users can configure automatic bill deletion in Settings (30 Days, 60 Days, 90 Days, or Never).
- Users can immediately purge expired or current bill data at any time via the "Clear Expired Bills Now" feature.
- When bills are purged, both local records and cloud-stored receipts/images are permanently deleted.
7. Account and Data Deletion Rights
You have the right at any time to delete all your stored data. In compliance with Google Play's Account Deletion Policy:
- In-App Deletion: You can wipe your local records and cloud bills immediately through the Settings menu.
- Web-Based Deletion Request: You can submit a deletion request without having the app installed by visiting our Account & Data Deletion Page or emailing us at support@nepallottery.org. Requests are processed within 7 business days.
8. Children's Privacy
Our application is not targeted toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children. If you become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we may promptly remove it.
